Wood House is an architectural retreat located in the heart of Portugal\u2019s Douro Valley. Developed with a conscious and sustainable approach, this modular wooden residence reflects a strong commitment to the principles of green architecture.<\/span><\/p>\n

From the outset, the project sought to minimize its impact on the surrounding landscape. The choice of a timber structure sourced from certified, sustainably managed forests was central, promoting low-impact construction and a reduced carbon footprint. Openings were strategically integrated into the roof to preserve the existing trees on site, reinforcing the project’s respect for the local ecosystem.<\/span><\/p>\n

The building is elevated above the ground, avoiding excavations or significant alterations to the natural topography. This solution respects the terrain and allows for the free flow of water and movement of local wildlife.<\/span><\/p>\n

The carefully selected timber fa\u00e7ade ensures chromatic and material integration with the forested surroundings, particularly with the pine trees that define the landscape. The green roof, composed of native plant species, enhances thermal performance, supports biodiversity, and acts as a natural extension of the terrain.<\/span><\/p>\n

More than a structure placed in the landscape, Wood House appears to emerge from it \u2014 discreet, integrated, and complementary. The result is a harmonious synthesis between architecture and nature, where building means not only inhabiting but also preserving and enhancing the land.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thoughtfully integrated into the landscape, the house reflects a sensitive and timeless approach to design, grounded in a strong relationship with its natural surroundings.<\/p>\n
