Energy Performance Certificates – ADENE experts

Energy Performance Certificates

If you are planning to sell or lease your property, or alternatively, if you own a newly constructed building, the law requires you to obtain an Energy Performance Certificate. In this context, the document must accompany the sale and purchase agreement or lease contract and, at the same time, inform the new owner or tenant about the energy performance of the property.

In addition, the Energy Performance Certificate identifies the energy rating, estimates energy consumption, and provides clear recommendations for improvement. As a result, these recommendations help increase energy efficiency, reduce energy costs, and ultimately enhance the property’s market value. For this reason, keeping your Energy Performance Certificate up to date offers clear advantages.

Who are ADENE Qualified Experts?

To obtain an Energy Performance Certificate, you must, first and foremost, request an assessment from a Qualified Expert accredited by ADENE – the Portuguese Energy Agency. In practice, ADENE manages the Energy Certification System and, furthermore, carries out activities of public interest in the fields of energy, energy efficiency, efficient water use, and sustainable mobility.

Whenever you request an Energy Performance Certificate, the total cost includes two distinct components:

  • Qualified Expert’s fees, which vary according to the type, size, and complexity of the property;

  • ADENE fees, which are fixed amounts established by law and relate specifically to the registration of the certificate on the SCE Portal.
