Vila Rosa Boutique Hotel

A House Connected to the Sea

In Aguda, Vila Nova de Gaia, a former seaside residence finds a new life as Vila Rosa Boutique Hotel. In an area shaped by a long tradition of summer retreats, the house once again welcomes those seeking to slow down and stay close to the sea.

The renovation begins with what is already there: the spaces, the elements that give the house its character, and the traces of its history. The new purpose adapts to this identity, allowing the past to remain part of the hotel experience.

Spaces to Gather and Share

Spread across three floors, the hotel brings together seven suites and shared spaces designed for a more personal and intimate approach to hospitality. On the raised ground floor, the reception, lounge, dining room and kitchen invite guests to meet, talk and enjoy unhurried moments.

Extending from the living areas, a terrace created above the rear extension brings the house closer to the garden and swimming pool.

Rooms with Different Ways of Living

On the ground floor, four suites establish a more direct relationship with the outdoors. Two open onto the garden, bringing natural light, greenery and the changing seasons into the guests’ experience.

On the uppermost floor, the geometry of the roof gives character to three more secluded suites. Two feature mezzanines, making use of the available height to create new perspectives within the space.

A Garden That Extends the House

Replacing the former outbuildings, a new multipurpose pavilion introduces additional possibilities for the hotel’s use. Positioned alongside the boundary wall and topped with a green roof, it blends discreetly into the outdoor setting.

Along the street, the existing wall and entrance gate are preserved as part of the property’s memory and Aguda’s landscape. Between what is retained and what is newly introduced, Vila Rosa Boutique Hotel emerges as a welcoming retreat, connected to the house, the garden and the sea.
